My main research interests are high-resolution imaging and chemical and spectroscopic analysis of Earth and planetary materials.
These areas link with several of the research themes of the
Earth Systems Research Group
(ESRG)
within the School of Geographical and Earth Sciences.
Much of this work takes place within the Imaging, Spectroscopy and Analysis Center (ISAAC) that is housed within
Geographical and Earth Sciences, and the Kelvin nanocharacterisation Center (KNC),
in the School of Physics & Astronomy at Glasgow.
Examples of current research projects
Water on Mars
Asteroidal parent bodies of primitive meteorites
Optics of trilobite eyes
Feldspar weathering at the nanoscale
Climate change and building stone decay
Invertebrate biomineralization
Sandstone diagenesis
