ISAAC is based in the Gregory Building (Gilmorehill campus, Glasgow University) and houses a range of state-of-the-art equipment of imaging, chemical and molecular analysis of natural and
synthetic materials at millimetre to nanometre scales. This equipment includes:
FEI Quanta 200F field-emission environmental SEM.
Zeiss Sigma field-emission analytical SEM.
Renishaw inVia laser Raman microscope.
Digital light microscopes for polarised light, reflected light and cathodoluminescence (CL) imaging.
Sample preparation including covered and polished thin sections and slabs, and carbon and gold coaters.
Image gallery.
The facilities available at ISAAC are complementary to those offered by the
Kelvin Nanocharacterisation Centre in the Schoolof Physics and Astronomy at Glasgow, and include
transmission electron microscopes (TEMs) and equipment for focussed ion beam (FIB) milling.
